Mini BITE Tournament (in short, "MBT")

Dear all,

We will be organising a mini BITE tournament among BITE players to be held on the 21st and 28th of February 2010 for the female and male categories respectively with mini-attractive prizes to be won!

Though frankly, this is organised more for the fun of playing badminton than the mini-attractive products. Plus, it adds a dash of excitement and competitiveness to the games. The details for the MBT is as follows:

Criterias to join the MBT

1. Must have played at BITE sessions frequently for the past 4 months. Both members or non-members may join the MBT.
2. For males, there will be a certain level of skill required before one may participate.
   
3. For females, not to worry, Diane Tan and Supin will not be allowed to join the female category and will join the male category instead.
4. Please approach me at BITE sessions or email me at Rubbish1981@gmail.com to register your interest before 7th February 2010. Please note that the last registered person may not get a partner and therefore may not be able to play. Therefore, register early!
   
5. We will pair all the participants so that the MBT will be competitive. The organiser will have the final say in pairing matters.
   

Format of the MBT

1. Doubles only
   
2. Round robin tournament
   
3. Best of 3 sets to win
   
4. Each set will be 15 points (for female category) each using the current international badminton 21-point scoring system. Male category will be 11 points each. Deuce will be 2 additional points.
   
5. 1st, 2nd, 3rd placing of the teams will be based on the number of wins against other teams. If the no. of wins is tied, ranking will subsequently be based on the net number of points won minus points lost for all the sets played against all other teams. Therefore, every point is potentially important.

Prizes (I kept this at the bottom so ppl will read through all the boring stuff on top)

1. Prizes will be sports-related products like badminton bags, sports T-shirts, shoe bags, wrist bands, strings, water bottles, etc. and brought with consideration to budget, general preferences and availability.
2. Feel free to approach me at any BITE sessions if you have any suggestions on the prizes.
   

Others matters

1. Where there are disputes, the organiser will have final say.
2. There may be last min changes to the format of the MBT depending on various factors (e.g. more participants means less points per set to speed up the games).
